Salad Love

I love salads.  I genuinely do.  I love the contrasting textures.  I love the crunch.  I love the different colors in my bowl.  I love the orange salad bowl that I inherited from my grandmother and that each time I take it from the cabinet, I think of her.

I love that they take time to eat, ‘forcing’ me to sit down and take time from my day to eat and nourish my body.  You can’t eat them on the run; you have to sit, take time and just eat.  True, with two young kids to feed, clean up and get to napping/rest time, I often don’t sit down to eat my salad until 2pm.  Still, I love the quiet time of sitting alone at my table, perusing a magazine or book and enjoying my salad.  And, I really love that it gives me nice, even energy for the rest of the afternoon.  No more mid-afternoon slumps or early evening crashes.

  1. I’m so glad you’ve started this. The recipes look great. Do you do juicing? I just got a champion juicer off of ebay, and I’m looking for good juice recipes. Granted, I have to figure out how the thing works first. 🙂

    • I do juice. I got a Breville off Craigslist and I’m enjoying concocting different juices. I do it a couple of times a week. Carrot/Cucumber/Apple is my latest favorite. What about you?
