Sprouted Quinoa ‘Cream of Wheat’

I sprouted quinoa last night for the first time.  It was surprisingly easy.  I soaked the quinoa for about 4 hours, rinsed and drained and then left in the mesh strainer over a bowl and covered the strainer with a towel.  Three hours later (after a nice dinner with the husband while the kids were at Parent’s Night Out at church), I returned to find my quinoa with the tell-tale tails.  Success!

This morning I used half of the sprouted quinoa (about 3/4 c) to make the following recipe (from HappyFoody.com)

  • 3/4 cup Qunioa
  • 1 banana
  • ¼ cup almond milk
  • ½ teaspoon Cinnamon
  • Salt to taste

Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend to desired consistency.  Good served with berries – although I just added extra bananas to mine.
